Student agency is all about giving learners the ability to take ownership of their learning through voice, choice, and responsibility. Instead of waiting for directions, students step into the driver’s seat by reflecting on progress, setting goals, and collaborating with peers.
In a 7th-grade math class in Twinsburg, Ohio, agency came alive during student-led stand-ups. Each team shared goals, identified challenges, and tracked progress while a scrum master recorded notes. This structure allowed students to own their learning and gave the teacher a clear snapshot of progress and needs.
